Agreement to these terms

These Terms and Conditions are the agreement between you and WWW WASHME TV, Inc. ("WASHME TV", "we", "us") covering wwwwashmetv.org, the installable app version of it, and the programs, courses, forms, and tools offered through them. By using the site — reading it, applying to a program, sending a resume, joining a class, asking the WASHME Assistant a question, or making a gift — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with information you share and forms part of this agreement.

Free and educational

Our programs are offered at no charge as charitable education. Nothing here is a professional service you are buying.

Guidance, not promises

We teach and mentor. We cannot promise grants, loans, approvals, profits, or employment.

Verify the rules

Permits, licensing, food safety, and taxes vary by place and change. Confirm them with the authority that enforces them.

Be decent

Use the site lawfully, respect other participants, and do not attack or abuse it.

Who we are and what this site is

WASHME TV — Work And Save Human Minority Entrepreneurs — is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Enterprise, Alabama (EIN 65-1113553). We provide free entrepreneurship training, financial literacy education, mentorship, and business incubation support, with a focus on minority and low-income founders in Coffee County and the Wiregrass region.

This website is how we publish that work: course material, the Promise to Prosper and Food Truck Entrepreneurship programs, live classroom sessions, news, our webcomic, job openings, and ways to apply, partner, or give. It is an informational and educational resource. It is not a lender, a licensing authority, a law firm, an accounting firm, an employment agency, or a food safety regulator, and nothing on it should be treated as the output of one.

Eligibility and accounts

You may browse the site at any age. To apply to a program, submit a job application, or create an applicant account, you must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian do it for you where we have specifically opened an activity to younger participants. Individual programs may have their own eligibility requirements — geography, business stage, income, or capacity — and those are stated with the program.

If you create an applicant account, the information you give must be accurate and the account is yours alone. Keep your password to yourself, do not let someone else use your account, and tell us promptly if you think someone has gained access to it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Saved application drafts are reachable by a long private link. Anyone who has that link can read, change, or delete that draft, so treat it as a password. Sharing it is your decision and your risk.

Applying and enrolling in programs

Submitting an application or enrollment form starts a conversation; it does not by itself enroll you or entitle you to a place. Our programs are grant-funded and capacity-limited, and we select participants based on the program's criteria and the space available. We may ask you for more information, invite you to an interview or orientation, place you on a waiting list, or decline an application.

Our programs are open to the community and we do not restrict participation by race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Our outreach is targeted — we actively recruit Black entrepreneurs in the Wiregrass–Black Belt Economic Corridor because that is where the economic barriers we exist to address are most concentrated — but participation is open to all low-income individuals in the community. Selection rests on objective criteria stated with each program: financial need, residency in the service area, age, business stage, demonstrated entrepreneurial effort, and available capacity. Any individual who meets a program's stated criteria is welcome to apply and is considered on the same terms as every other applicant.

Information you give us must be truthful. Material misstatements — about your eligibility, your business, or your identity — are grounds for withdrawing an offer of a place or ending your participation.

Programs are free. We may change a program's schedule, curriculum, instructors, format, or location, and we may postpone, combine, or discontinue a program, including one you are enrolled in, when funding or circumstances require it. We will give participants as much notice as we reasonably can. Attendance and participation expectations for a specific program are set out with that program, and we may end a participant's involvement for repeated non-attendance or for conduct that disrupts the group.

Acceptable use

Use the site for its purpose. You agree not to:

  • Use the site for anything unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, defamatory, or infringing.
  • Impersonate anyone, or submit an application, inquiry, or donation in someone else's name without their authority.
  • Upload or send malware, or anything designed to damage or disrupt the site or the people who read it.
  • Attempt to reach administrative pages, accounts, files, databases, or interfaces you have not been given access to, or to defeat any sign-in, permission, or rate limit.
  • Probe, scan, overload, or stress the site or the services behind it, including automated submission of forms or abuse of the chat assistant.
  • Scrape or bulk-collect content, job postings, or contact details, or use the site to build a mailing or marketing list.
  • Reproduce, resell, or redistribute our course materials or the webcomic outside the personal use permitted below.
  • Post or transmit content through our forms or chat that is abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, or that reveals someone else's personal information without their consent.

We may remove content, block a submission, or withdraw access when this section is broken, and we may report unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities.

What you send us

You keep ownership of what you submit — your application answers, your resume, your cover note, your inquiry, a photo or document you send us. By submitting it, you give WASHME TV permission to store it and use it for the purpose you submitted it for: to consider your application, run the program, answer your question, or respond to your inquiry. That permission is limited to those purposes and is described further in our Privacy Policy.

You confirm that what you send is yours to send, that it is accurate, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or include another person's confidential or personal information without their consent. Please do not send us material you consider a trade secret or otherwise confidential; if you want a confidentiality agreement in place before sharing something about your business, contact us first and ask.

If you separately agree — in writing, for a story, a photograph, or a testimonial — that we may feature your name, likeness, or business in our publicity, that permission is given in that agreement, not here. We do not turn an application into a marketing feature without asking you.

We may remove or decline any submission, and we are not obliged to store, return, or preserve a copy of something you have sent us beyond what the Privacy Policy describes. Keep your own copy of anything that matters to you.

The WASHME Assistant

The WASHME Assistant is an automated tool powered by an AI language model, available by text or voice on every page. It is offered as a convenience for questions about WASHME TV, this website, and starting and running a small business.

Understand what it is

The assistant's answers are generated automatically and can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. They are not reviewed by our staff before you see them, they are not advice from WASHME TV, and they are not legal, tax, accounting, lending, or investment advice. Verify anything consequential — a permit requirement, a cost, a tax treatment, a lending decision — with the authority or professional responsible for it before acting on it.

Do not enter Social Security numbers, bank or card details, passwords, tax IDs, or other people's personal information. Do not rely on the assistant in an emergency.

We may change, limit, or withdraw the assistant at any time, and it may be unavailable. Using it means you accept that you are responsible for checking what it tells you, and that WASHME TV is not liable for decisions you make on the basis of an automated answer.

No professional advice

Everything on this site — the courses, the workbooks, the classroom sessions, the news posts, the mentorship conversations, and the chat assistant — is general education. It is not legal, tax, accounting, financial, insurance, lending, or regulatory advice, and using the site does not create a professional or fiduciary relationship between you and WASHME TV or anyone teaching for us.

This matters most where the rules are local and enforced by someone else. Mobile food establishment requirements in Alabama, including Alabama Department of Public Health Chapter 420-3-22, along with health permits, business licenses, zoning, commissary arrangements, sales tax, employment obligations, and insurance, all vary by jurisdiction and change over time. Our training is designed to prepare you for them, but the authority that issues your permit is the only source that can tell you what your permit requires. Confirm with them, and engage an attorney, accountant, or licensed professional for decisions specific to your situation.

Where a partner organization is named on this site, it supports our work; naming it does not make it responsible for our content or make us authorized to speak for it, and any endorsement of our training is of the training, not of any individual participant's business.

No guaranteed outcomes

We will teach you what we can and connect you where we can. We cannot and do not promise:

  • A grant, loan, line of credit, investment, or any other funding, from us or anyone else.
  • Approval of a permit, license, registration, or application by any agency.
  • An improvement in your credit score or your financial position.
  • Revenue, profit, or that a business you start will succeed.
  • Employment or an interview, whether or not you complete a program.
  • A place in a program, or that a program will run on a particular date.

Where the site describes what past participants have achieved, that is their result, not a projection of yours. Starting a business carries real financial risk, and the decisions are yours.

The live classroom

Live sessions run on Zoom and are subject to Zoom's own terms in addition to these. Sessions may have a time limit set by our plan, may start late, and may be rescheduled or cancelled. Joining a session means agreeing to conduct yourself professionally: no harassment, no disruption, and no promoting unrelated products or services to the other participants.

Do not record, photograph, screenshot, or redistribute a session, its participants, or its materials without the host's permission. If we record a session, the host will say so before recording begins. Other participants may share personal details about their businesses and their finances in a session — treat what you hear as theirs, and keep it in the room.

Meeting links, passcodes, and host credentials are for the people they were given to and must not be shared or published.

Our content and materials

The site and everything we publish on it — the course workbooks, the Promise to Prosper and food truck curricula, the written text, photographs, video, the "THE W" webcomic and its artwork, the WASHME TV name, logo, and seal, and the site's design and code — is owned by WWW WASHME TV, Inc. or used with permission, and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

What you may do

You may read, stream, print, and download our educational materials for your own personal or business use, and for use in your own household. You may share a link to any page on this site freely. Where a workbook is offered as a download, you may print it and work through it.

What you may not do

Do not sell, license, or charge for our materials; do not republish them on another site, platform, or app; do not use them to run your own training program or course; do not remove our name, logos, or notices; and do not use our name, logo, or seal in a way that suggests WASHME TV endorses, sponsors, or is affiliated with your business or organization. Educators, agencies, and nonprofits are genuinely welcome to use our materials with the people they serve — ask us first and we will usually say yes in writing.

Partner names, logos, and marks appearing on the site belong to those organizations and are used with their permission for the purpose stated. Any third-party font, library, or other component included in the site remains subject to its own license.

Job postings and applications

Openings listed on our careers page describe roles as they stand when posted. A posting is not an offer of employment or a contract, and we may edit, repost, pause, or close any posting, or decide not to fill a role at all. Compensation, hours, location, and duties described in a posting are subject to change and to any written offer we ultimately make.

Employment with WASHME TV, if offered and accepted, is at will unless a signed written agreement says otherwise, meaning either of us may end the relationship at any time. Any offer may be conditioned on references, eligibility to work, and any background or credential check the role requires.

We consider applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Tell us if you need an accommodation to apply and we will work with you on it.

Donations

Gifts to WASHME TV are voluntary and, because we are a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 65-1113553), are generally tax-deductible in the United States to the extent the law allows. We do not provide tax advice — how a gift affects your return is between you and your tax advisor. We will acknowledge your gift in writing, and we will provide the receipt substantiation the IRS requires for gifts at the applicable thresholds.

Online gifts are processed by GiveButter, whose terms and fees apply to the transaction, and card details are handled by that platform rather than by us. Checks may be mailed to us; contact us for details. Recurring gifts continue until you cancel them, which you may do at any time through the platform or by contacting us.

Gifts are used to further our charitable mission. We honor restrictions you place on a gift in writing where we are able to; where a restricted purpose becomes impractical, we will contact you or apply the gift to the closest comparable purpose consistent with our obligations as a nonprofit. Donations are not refundable as a matter of course, but if you have made an error — a duplicate gift, a wrong amount — contact us promptly and we will do our best to correct it.

The installable app and notifications

The site can be installed on a phone, tablet, or computer and used offline. The offline version works from a copy stored on your device, so what it shows you may be out of date — for job closing dates, class times, program deadlines, and news, check the live site before relying on what you see. We may change or discontinue the offline capability at any time.

If you allow notifications, we use them to tell you when we publish something. Turn them off at any time in your browser or device settings, or from the control on our news page. We do not use notifications for advertising. Notification delivery depends on your browser's push service and your device, and we cannot guarantee that any particular notification arrives or arrives on time.

Third-party services and links

The site depends on services run by other companies — hosting and form handling, analytics, email delivery, donation processing, video conferencing, AI inference, and browser push delivery. Their availability and behavior are not under our control, and our features can be interrupted when theirs are.

We also link to partners, government resources, social media, and other outside sites. We do not control them, we are not responsible for their content, products, terms, or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement. When you follow a link or use a third-party service, that company's terms govern your use of it.

Availability of the site

We offer this site as a nonprofit with limited resources and we do not promise it will be available without interruption. We may add, change, suspend, or remove any page, program, course, tool, or feature, and we may take the site down for maintenance or for any other reason, with or without notice. We may also limit access from a particular address or device where necessary to protect the site.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site, its content, our programs, and every tool on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We specifically disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that defects will be corrected; that the site or its servers are free of harmful components; or that the content, including anything produced by the WASHME Assistant, is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your circumstances. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WWW WASHME TV, Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, instructors, mentors, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business opportunity, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of the site, our programs, or our materials — even if we have been advised that such damages are possible.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the site, our programs, or these terms will not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100) or, if greater, the amount you paid us for the specific service giving rise to the claim in the twelve months before the claim arose. Our programs are provided free of charge, which is part of the basis of this allocation of risk.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Your responsibility to us

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WWW WASHME TV, Inc. and the people listed in the section above from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your use of the site in breach of these terms, content you submit, your violation of any law or of anyone's rights, or the operation of a business you run. We may participate in the defense of any such claim with counsel of our choosing.

Suspending access

We may suspend or end your access to the site, your applicant account, or your participation in a program at any time — with notice where practical, immediately where a breach of these terms, a risk to other participants, or a threat to the site requires it. You may stop using the site at any time, and you may ask us to close your account and delete your drafts. The sections covering submissions, our content, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and governing law survive the end of your access.

Governing law and disputes

These terms and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the site are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and WASHME TV agree that any action must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Coffee County, Alabama, or the federal district covering it, and each of us consents to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing anything, please contact us and describe the problem. Most disagreements with a small nonprofit are resolved by a phone call, and we would much rather have that call.

General terms

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any written agreement covering a specific program, gift, or engagement, are the entire agreement between you and WASHME TV about the site. If a specific written agreement conflicts with these terms, that agreement controls for the subject it covers.

If any provision here is found unenforceable, it is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours in connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of our programs to another organization. Nothing in these terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between us. Headings are for convenience and the plain-language summaries in these documents do not override the sections they summarize.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as our programs, tools, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of the page always shows the current version, and the revised terms apply from the date they are posted. When a change is significant, we will flag it on the site rather than rely on you noticing. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms; if you do not accept them, please stop using the site and, if you wish, ask us to close your account.
